The Walk
They walked in silence, side by side, along the gravel path. Neither of them really knew where they were going, they were just walking, together. She took a sip of her coffee. He adjusted the zip on his jacket. There was no rush, there was nowhere they needed to be, no schedule, no pressure. Just the two of them, together. She peeked up at him, her eyes lingering on the subtle beauty of his face and its features. He sensed her gaze and looked around, only to be dazzled by the smile that spread across her face as their eyes met. They both turned back to look ahead, refocusing on the path in front of them. Her cheeks had coloured to a glowing shade of red. His heart had fluttered and was beating faster than usual. The atmosphere was crackling with the spark between them - the spark that had always been there. They were both trying to let it go unacknowledged, something that was proving to be a lot easier said than done. It was impossible to ignore.
